Dear friends,
At this time of the year, when there may be rain or shine and everything seems possible, we would like to share some outstanding news : 33 Jours by Léon Werth has just been published in the United States by Melville Press and is already raising a lot of curiosity there and elsewhere.
Should you wish to consider it, we would be happy to provide you with the French (or English text), and a full set of press reviews.
Do not hesitate to contact us if you need further information.
With all good wishes,
Maylis Vauterin

A LONG-LOST MEMOIR OF ESCAPING THE NAZIS AND OCCUPIED FRANCE |
33 Jours by Léon Werth is a 200 paged-account of the exodus of French citizens when the German army entered Paris in 1940 : 33 days of chaos when the French are on the road with all their belongings. Once their cars run out of gasoline, they continue on foot or by bike. People talk on the road, and choose sides...
Léon Werth is a direct witness and actor in this history-in-progress. His account is at once sharp, moving and funny. |

WRITTEN BY THE BEST FRIEND OF SAINT-EXUPERY |
Who is Léon Werth ?
Le petit Prince by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry was dedicated to Léon Werth : he was Saint-Exupéry’s closest friend.
The story of the manuscript of 33 Jours is a novel in itself : Viviane Hamy, curious about the dedicatee of Le petit Prince, contacted the writer’s son, Claude Werth, who found, two years later, the manuscript amongst doctor’s prescriptions in the office where he was established as a doctor. |
